Uber delivers adoptable kittens to your doorstep

Apparently, it's National Cat Day. Uber hatches an adorable plan to promote on-demand delivery while potentially finding homes for kittens.

Uber's done it again. It finds a buzzworthy product and makes it available for on-demand delivery. This time it's hit the meme motherload -- cute and cuddly kittens.

Tuesday is National Cat Day, so Uber is promoting its service today by partnering with popular meme site Cheezburger to deliver kitten-snuggling time. The service is available in New York, San Francisco, and Seattle.

If you open up your Uber app between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. local time, you'll see a "KITTENS!" option. Uber warns that users should expect high demand, so you may have to try a few times to actually score some kitten time.

If you're lucky enough to snag some of that limited kitten time, Uber will deliver an adoptable kitten (along with an animal shelter volunteer) to your location. You'll get 15 minutes with the kitten, as well as Ace of Cake cupcakes and some Uber swag. You even get to track your cat delivery en route by watching the kitten head icon on the Uber map in your app.

The whole experience costs $20, and all the proceeds go to your local shelter.
Uber, which started as an on-demand black car service, has gone the route of sensational deliveries before, and CEO Travis Kalanick hinted earlier this year that on-demand everything may not be too far off in the company's future. In the past, Uber has done promotional deliveries with ice cream, Valentine's Day roses, helicopters, and BBQ.
