November 2013's NPD Group sales results are in! In what was perhaps the most event-filled month of the past couple years, a fireworks show full of new hardware and great games was put on display. Not only is November 2013 now crowned the #1 hardware month of all-time in the U.S., but overall retail sales were up 7% year-over-year.

First up is the software. Call of Duty: Ghosts unsurprisingly takes the top spot edging out Battlefield 4 and Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, all of which were boosted by next-gen launch availability. Grand Theft Auto V held a top 10 spot for its third month in a row.
The top 10 software chart is as follows:
  • 1. Call of Duty: Ghosts
  • 2. Battlefield 4
  • 3. Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag
  • 4. Madden NFL 25
  • 5. Grand Theft Auto V
  • 6. NBA 2K14
  • 7. Skylander SWAP Force
  • 8. Just Dance 2014
  • 9. Disney Infinity
  • 10. FIFA 14
Now for the hardware. Many have speculated not only about the showdown between Microsoft and Sony's new consoles, but how the Wii U fared following the introduction of next-gen competition was. Well, all of the big three did incredibly well. The PS4 shattered records with the Xbox One not far behind. Actually, the Xbox One managed to sell more per-day than the PS4, but took the second spot since it came out a week later.

Both next-gen consoles destroyed the Wii U, which is on a similar pace as the Dreamcast, but the 3DS is still a monster. It is on-track to becoming one of the best-selling handhelds of all-time despite its rough start.
  • 1. PlayStation 4: number yet-to-be-released
  • 2. Xbox One: 909,132 (more sold per day than the PS4, but a lower total)
  • 3. 3DS: 770,000
  • 4. Xbox 360: 647,000
  • 5. Wii U: 220,000
Remember, all of these figures are only relevant to the United States, so sales in Europe and other countries have been disregarded
